Gachau’s Health Update After Dramatic Hospital Rush Following Vurugu 2 Knockout

Fitness influencer and bodybuilder-turned-boxer Gachau Njoroge has been discharged from the hospital. This follows a frightening scene on Saturday night at Nairobi’s Sarit Centre.

Gachau was rushed to the emergency room after a heavy sixth-round technical knockout (TKO) loss to his rival, Phil Castro.

The heavyweight exhibition bout served as the main attraction for Vurugu 2, an event organised by media personality Oga Obinna. The fight ended abruptly when the referee stepped in during the sixth round to protect Gachau from further punishment.

The Medical Verdict

Speaking to his friend Nico Mutisya just minutes after leaving the hospital, Gachau provided a detailed update on his condition. Despite being carried out on a stretcher, the athlete confirmed that major tests returned positive results.

“Everything is okay,” Gachau told Mutisya. “The CT scan is clear. I had an ultrasound on my stomach because I have a history of hernia surgery, and that is fine too,” he added.

Medical staff did identify one minor area of concern. A scan of his side revealed a “small fluid” collection, but doctors assured him it was not serious. Gachau also confirmed he is dealing with a lingering concussion, describing it as the “usual” feeling after such an intense physical encounter.

“This side of the liver is where they’ve seen some fluid but the scan has confirmed it is not something serious. X-ray has also confirmed that the lungs are okay. So, I’m okay though I am feeling a slight concussion but it’s not something serious.”

A Gruelling Rivalry

The fight was the climax of a months-long feud between the two fitness icons. What began as banter in the bodybuilding community escalated into a public rivalry on social media. Fans watched for weeks as both men questioned each other’s strength and stamina.

On the night, Gachau showed significant resilience, absorbing heavy hits in the early rounds. However, by the sixth, Phil Castro’s superior power and conditioning took over. Phil was eventually crowned the Vurugu 2 heavyweight champion.

Looking Ahead to October

Despite the defeat and the hospital visit, Gachau remains defiant. He offered congratulations to his opponent while maintaining the competitive “trash talk” that defined the build-up to the fight.

“Phil, congratulations, you are the better man tonight. But remember, you are still a cabbage head.”

Gachau does not plan to stay away from the spotlight for long. He announced that he expects to return to training soon. His next goal is a return to his roots in a bodybuilding show scheduled for 10 October.

He even extended an invitation to Phil Castro to join him on the bodybuilding stage to see if the boxer could “survive” in Gachau’s original arena.
