Kenyan TikToker and content creator Rachel Otuoma is officially engaged again, marking a new chapter in her life months after publicly mourning the loss of her late husband, former footballer Ezekiel Otuoma.
The engagement was revealed through videos shared online showing a private surprise proposal attended by close friends and family members.
In the clips, Rachel appeared emotional and shocked as she walked into the decorated venue before spotting her partner waiting for her with a ring.
The room had been arranged with romantic decorations, including a large heart-shaped setup, as guests cheered her on. Rachel could be seen covering her face in disbelief moments before her partner went down on one knee to propose.
Kenyans React to Engagement
Following the engagement announcement, social media users flooded comment sections with congratulatory messages, with many praising Rachel for finding happiness again after a painful period in her life
Some supporters described the engagement as a reward for the loyalty and care she showed Ezekiel during his illness.
Others, however, revisited earlier conversations surrounding grief, remarriage, and how quickly widows are often judged online after moving on.
Still, many fans maintained that Rachel deserved peace, stability, and love after years of emotional hardship and public scrutiny.
A New Chapter After Loss
Rachel’s engagement comes after a highly publicised period of grief following Ezekiel Otuoma’s death in December 2024.
The former footballer passed away after battling Motor Neurone Disease (MND), also known as ALS, a rare condition that affects the nervous system and muscles.

For years, Rachel earned admiration from many Kenyans for standing by Ezekiel throughout his illness, frequently documenting their journey online and acting as his primary caregiver. Her devotion during his health struggles made her one of the most discussed figures on Kenyan social media.
At Ezekiel’s burial in January 2025, Rachel emotionally stated that she would never remove her wedding ring or remarry, saying nobody could replace the late footballer in her heart.
However, months later, she began openly speaking about healing, rebuilding her life, and moving forward after loss. Mpasho had also previously reported that Rachel planned to relocate, buy new furniture, and keep herself busy with work as part of her healing journey.

Public Relationships Sparked Debate
By April 2025, Rachel had introduced a new partner publicly, drawing mixed reactions online from supporters and critics alike. Later in August the same year, she unveiled another partner identified as Jabilo, revealing that they were preparing for a traditional wedding ceremony.
In November 2025, the influencer further confirmed that she had officially remarried less than a year after Ezekiel’s passing. At the time, she also addressed criticism surrounding her continued use of the “Otuoma” surname.
Despite previously saying she would drop the name after remarrying, Rachel later clarified that she would continue using it alongside her new marital identity, explaining that her husband was comfortable with the decision.
She defended her choice publicly, insisting that she deserved happiness and the opportunity to move forward with her life after enduring difficult years caring for her late husband.
