Deus Derrick Addresses Rumoured Fallout With Guardian Angel

Gospel artiste Deus Derrick has addressed long-standing rumours surrounding his relationship with Guardian Angel, revealing that the two only experienced misunderstandings during the early days of the 7 Heaven Music movement.
Speaking during an interview, Derrick dismissed claims that there was bad blood between him, Guardian Angel, and fellow singer Sammy G after the success of the Nimependa Remix.
The singer said many fans misunderstood the situation. They believed he and Sammy G had officially signed under the 7 Heaven Music label.
“Sammy G and I were never signed under Seven Heaven. We were just being used during that time as the face of the Seven Heaven Music label,” Deus Derrick said.
The singer explained that while there were disagreements during the launch period of the label, the issues were later resolved privately.
“People thought maybe we had a misunderstanding because they thought we were signed, and Guardian disowned us, but that was not the issue. There was just a misunderstanding, but we sorted it out. Now everything is okay,” he stated.
The Nimependa Remix became one of the most talked-about gospel collaborations online at the time, helping propel the names of Deus Derrick and Sammy G into wider public attention within Kenya’s gospel scene.

Relationship With Guardian Angel
Derrick maintained that he still speaks with Guardian Angel and remains open to working with him again in future projects.
“We are on good terms. We used to talk, and even now we still talk. I am looking forward to have another song with him and even Sammy G,” he said.

He also addressed speculation surrounding the collapsed signing rumours involving 7 Heaven Music, insisting there was never a formal deal in place.
Still, the singer said he would not reject an opportunity to work with the label in the future if the terms were favourable to both parties.
“If Seven Heaven offers a good deal to sign any artist, I won’t mind. Where there is good business, I can’t refuse,” he added.

Brotherhood First
Regarding his relationship with Sammy G, Derrick described their bond as brotherly, saying they still interact frequently, both privately and on social media.
He revealed that the two recently met and continue supporting each other’s music online through posts and challenges. “We are gospel artistes. We are sons in the Kingdom of God, so there is nothing personal that we had a grudge with,” he explained.

The singer further emphasised the importance of unity in the gospel industry, saying fame, numbers, and branding should never come before love and togetherness. “Love is the greatest commandment.

”These other things, like brand, name, music, numbers, and fame, are all in vain as long as we embrace love,” Deus Derrick said.
