Detectives in Kisumu are investigating a murder incident in Kamuga village in Nyakach subcounty after a 23-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her husband during a domestic altercation.
Police said officers visited the scene on May 12 and confirmed the incident.
The deceased, identified only as Winny, a female adult aged about 23 years, is reported to have been assaulted by her husband hours earlier.
According to police, neighbours heard the woman screaming for help and rushed to rescue her, only to find her lying lifeless within the compound. The body had visible injuries on the hands and legs.
Investigators recovered a wooden stick, a trouser and a T-shirt stained with blood from inside the couple’s house.
The scene was processed and documented before the body was moved to Bethlehem Mortuary, awaiting an autopsy.
Police said the suspect escaped after the incident, and efforts to trace and arrest him are ongoing.
Police said cases of domestic assault that turn fatal have been on the rise, with some pending before courts.
Meanwhile, police in Lang’ata subcounty are investigating a sudden death incident after the body of an unidentified man was discovered beneath a bridge near the junction of Southern Bypass and Lang’ata Link Road.
According to police, officers responded to reports of a body lying under the bridge near the NHC area on May 12.
Upon arriving at the scene, the officers found the lifeless body of an unknown male adult aged about 42 years lying beneath the bridge.
Police said a preliminary examination showed the body had no visible physical injuries.
The body was moved to Nairobi City County Funeral Home awaiting identification and an autopsy.
In Murang’a county, police are also investigating a sudden death incident after the body of a 67-year-old man was found lying by the roadside at Kaharo Shopping Centre in Murang’a South subcounty.
Police identified the deceased as Julius Mburu, a Kikuyu male adult aged about 67 years.
A preliminary examination revealed that the body had no visible physical injuries.
Investigators established through relatives that the deceased was a resident of Kaigio village and was known to sleep outside, as he reportedly had no family support frequently.
The scene was documented before the body was moved to Maragua Level 4 Hospital mortuary, awaiting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
In the same area, police are investigating another sudden death incident after a 71-year-old man was found lying dead along a feeder road in Ndutumi Village in Kahuro Sub-County.
Police said officers responded to reports that a man had been found unresponsive on a feeder road in the area.
The deceased was identified as Linkon Irungu Gocho, a 71-year-old male.
Upon examination, officers established that the body had no visible external injuries.
Preliminary inquiries indicated that the deceased was last seen on May 11, 2026, at around 6 pm at Ndutumi Shopping Centre, where he was reportedly in a drunken state, according to his grandson.
The scene was processed and documented by crime scene investigators before the body was moved to Muriranjas Sub-County Hospital Mortuary for preservation pending a postmortem examination.
