Kenyan content creator and comedian Kartelo has spoken candidly about one of the most important periods in his career during an interview on Over1m Podcast.
While reflecting on his appearance on Zabe, Kartelo said he was in a peaceful place mentally and spiritually when the opportunity came.
According to the entertainer, life still had its challenges at the time, but internally, he felt stable and focused.
“Mentally and spiritually, I was in a good state,” Kartelo said.
He explained that when media personality Oga Obinna reached out for the interview, he immediately recognised it as a chance to grow.
Kartelo said he accepted the invitation and everything unfolded naturally.

A Turning Point

The comedian revealed that his working relationship with Obinna extended beyond the interview. The two later collaborated on several projects, with Kartelo working alongside the media personality for about a year.
That period, he said, became one of the happiest and most productive chapters of his journey in entertainment.
“It was my best year. I was feeling good because everything was going according to plan,” he said.
Kartelo’s remarks offered a rare glimpse into the personal side of his rise in the Kenyan entertainment scene, where he has built a reputation through humour, online skits and relatable storytelling.
Over the years, Oga Obinna has also become known for mentoring and supporting upcoming creatives through interviews, collaborations and digital content platforms.

Respect And Professionalism

Despite their close working relationship, Kartelo described his friendship with Obinna as strictly professional.

He noted that mutual respect played a major role in how they related and worked together.

According to Kartelo, Obinna’s maturity and guidance helped shape part of his career path.

“Big up to Obinna. He is among the people who played a big role in my journey,” Kartelo stated.

The comedian added that he always respected Obinna and appreciated the environment they created while working together.
