Kenyan content creator and beauty expert Sparky Kenya, widely known as Sparky Eyebrows on TikTok, recently shared his views on marriage.
Speaking on a podcast with Muhia wa Maingi, the entrepreneur discussed the unique qualities of Akamba women. Sparky, who specialises in microblading and eyebrow makeup, drew from his personal experiences and his current estrangement from his wife.
The Ritual of Care
Sparky described his marriage as “sweet” and full of romance. He highlighted the deep level of care he received from his wife. According to Sparky, she would personally wash his entire body, including his back.
He questioned whether women from other backgrounds, specifically mentioning the Kikuyu community, would perform such tasks.

Friendship and Resilience
Beyond physical care, Sparky emphasised the importance of emotional connection. He believes that a successful marriage requires marrying a best friend. This bond allows a couple to joke freely about each other’s appearance without taking offence.
He shared that he and his wife often teased each other. She would joke about his lack of a beard or the shape of his face. Sparky also touched on his mental health, mentioning he has bipolar disorder.
He linked his emotional state to financial stresses, such as the loss of a vehicle worth 8 million shillings.
