Edwin Sifuna’s Planned Radio Interview Cancelled Abruptly: “Hata Ndio Vizuri”

Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna has revealed that his scheduled radio interview was cancelled at the last minute.

Sifuna was set to appear on Radio Jambo’s breakfast show on Thursday, April 30, morning, but the interview will not happen. Why did Radio Jambo cancel Sifuna interview? In the turn of events, the popular radio station pulled the plug on the planned session, citing only “unavoidable circumstances”.  The message followed a formal communication from the station’s breakfast show producer, Martin NK, who informed the senator that the interview would not proceed. In the message shared by Sifuna, the producer stated the cancellation and apologised for any inconvenience caused. While no further details were provided on what led to the cancellation, it sparked curiosity among Sifuna and followers. “Good afternoon Senator, Unfortunately we are not able to run the Radio Jambo interview tomorrow morning as initially planned. This is due to unavoidable circumstances. Apologies for any inconvenience caused. Regards, Martin NK: Radio Jambo Breakfast Producer,” read the message shared by Sifuna online.

How did Sifuna react to interview cancellation? Taking to X on Wednesday, April 29, Sifuna had a field day with the cryptic explanation, calling out Radio Jambo with a mix of sarcasm and humour. The abbreviation “IYKYK”, meaning “If You Know, You Know”, spoke a lot as the phrase suggested that the cancellation of the Radio Jambo interview was not a logistical issue, but perhaps something more deliberate.  “@RadioJamboKenya wanadai “unavoidable circumstances” but IYKYK! Hata ndio mzuri nione Arsenali wakipigwa bila pressure ya kuamka mapema,” he wrote. However, before the dust had even settled on Radio Jambo’s cancellation, Sifuna had already found himself a new home for the morning. Within moments of the news, he confirmed he had secured an alternative interview slot on Spice FM during the exact same morning window and shared a message for Radio Jambo. “Jambo Jambo! Ni kuoga na kurudi soko…unavoidable circumstances ni wewe. Injili lazima iendelee,” Sifuna wrote.
