One person has been reported dead following a road traffic incident along the busy Nairobi–Mombasa Road.
The incident, which occurred a few minutes ago at 8:59 am on Thursday, is reported to have involved a motorcyclist and a private car.
Preliminary information indicates that the motor vehicle may have hit the motorcyclist from behind, resulting in fatal injuries.
Both the rider and the motorist were travelling towards Nairobi from the Mombasa direction.
Traffic officers from the Industrial Area Police Station were at the scene processing the incident by press time.
The body was still lying at the scene on the road at the time of going to press.
A heavy traffic snarl-up has since built up along the highway following the incident, with members of the public, most of them boda boda operators, gathering at the scene.
Police had yet to issue an official statement on the incident by press time.
