Alert: Expect traffic snarl in CBD as City Hall area sealed off

The National Police Service has informed the public of a temporary traffic disruption in the CBD on Thursday to give way for President William Ruto as he attends two events in the city.

The president is set to attend the Africa Urban Forum at the Kenya International Convention Center.

The advisory indicates that the disruptions are necessary to facilitate two major events taking place in close proximity within the city centre, drawing the need for significant security attention and logistical coordination.

The police service noted that due to the shared security perimeter of the two venues, the roads to be closed included City Hall-Wabera Street, which is next to the City Hall, and the Supreme Court-Parliament roundabout.

The service clarified that the roads were to be closed until both events would be concluded, urging road users to use alternative routes as guided by traffic officers.

“We urge motorists to use alternative routes and follow the directions of traffic officers on site. We regret any inconvenience caused,” the service said.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, announced on Wednesday at the Africa Urban Forum that President William Ruto would grace the the second day of the conference on Thursday.

The president is also expected to address the National County Assembly at City Hall after the Africa Urban Forum.

The event would be the first formal address by a sitting head of state in any county assembly since devolution, marking a historic milestone in the nation.

The address will focus on development projects and an Sh80 billion cooperation agreement between the government and Nairobi County.
