Kenya’s Biggest Radio Shake-Up: Presenters Swap Shows in 24-Hour Takeover

Kenya’s airwaves are about to sound very different as Radio Africa Group marks its 25th anniversary with an unprecedented live broadcast stunt that flips the script on traditional radio.

Dubbed The Takeover, the campaign will see presenters from the Group’s four flagship stations — Kiss 100, Classic 105, HOMEBoyz Radio and Radio Jambo — swap shows for an entire day on Friday, April 3, 2026.

For 24 hours, familiar voices will disappear from their usual slots and re-emerge on completely different stations, hosting shows they have never anchored before — and speaking to audiences who may be hearing them for the first time.

The result, according to the Group, is set to be “a single, unmissable day of radio unlike anything” it has attempted in its 25-year history.

The move is designed to celebrate a milestone for one of Kenya’s most influential broadcast houses while showcasing the depth of talent across its brands.

Rather than a publicity stunt, the Group positions the takeover as a deliberate creative decision — one that reflects how far Kenyan radio has evolved and how interconnected its audiences have become.

In the days leading up to the event, listeners have been drawn into the build-up through on-air teasers and social media activations running from March 30 to April 2.

Polls, conversations and speculation across Instagram, TikTok and X have turned the campaign into an interactive experience, with audiences trying to guess who will land where before the big reveal.

On Takeover Day, however, the guessing ends. The full presenter swap goes live across all four stations, with each host stepping into unfamiliar territory for the entire broadcast cycle.

But the twist does not end with the programming.

To mark the 25-year milestone, the Group will also reward 25 listeners with mystery prizes — though the catch is that details on how to win will only be revealed on air during the takeover. That means tuning in is not optional for those hoping to walk away with a prize.

The campaign brings together a combined audience of more than 42.5 million listeners, effectively uniting the distinct identities of the four stations under a single, shared experience.

For radio audiences used to routine and familiarity, Friday’s takeover promises something rare — unpredictability on the dial. And for Radio Africa Group, it is a bold way to celebrate a legacy while reminding listeners why radio still has the power to surprise.
