The issue has triggered widespread concern among applicants, particularly those seeking to travel in the coming weeks.

“The Ministry of Interior and National Administration is apprised of concerns raised by passport applicants on the unavailability of A and B Series booklets in the eCitizen application portal,” the Ministry said.

It assured applicants that measures had already been put in place to ensure passport applications continue to be processed without unnecessary delays.

According to the Ministry, the steps taken are aimed at ensuring applications are handled in a timely manner and without causing inconvenience to the public.

“The Ministry has put in place measures to ensure that all passport applications are processed in a timely manner without causing any inconvenience to the applicants,” the statement read.

The Ministry also reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating travel in line with its mandate, noting that efforts were ongoing to ensure that all passport series are available on the eCitizen platform.

“We reaffirm our commitment to facilitate travel in line with our mandate as we make efforts to ensure that all series are available,” it said.

The statement comes amid growing public concern and online complaints from applicants who reported challenges completing their passport applications due to the missing options on the portal. Some applicants had expressed fears of delays affecting planned travel.

The Ministry appealed for patience as it works to resolve the issue.

“We appreciate your patience as we work on resolving the issue,” the statement added.

No timeline was given on when the A and B Series booklets would be restored on the platform, but the Ministry maintained that applications would continue to be processed as corrective measures are implemented.
