Big Sean and Jhené Aiko’s love story, from early collabs to parenthood and split

Big Sean and Jhené Aiko, a prominent musical duo, dated for close to a decade before calling it quits in late 2025. Before they began dating, they collaborated on releasing several tracks and then launched a joint album, Twenty88, in 2016. The ex-couple has a son named Noah Hasani. Jhené Aiko and Big Sean attend the 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles. Big Sean and Jhené Aiko’s relationship timeline Big Sean and Jhené Aiko were romantically involved in the mid-2010s and remained linked for close to 10 years. Below is an overview of Big Sean & Jhené Aiko’s relationship timeline. 2012: Big Sean and Jhené Aiko meet Big Sean and Aiko first met at the studio of legendary producer No I.D. in 2012, before collaborating on Big Sean’s Beware and I’m Gonna Be. Despite Aiko reportedly having a boyfriend at the time, the two went on a date to a Lakers game. Aiko shared details about their first date with Sean with Flaunt Magazine. She said,

We went to a Lakers game. It was a long time ago […] first of all, I had a boyfriend and me and Sean had already met. We were friends. So, he asked me to go out with him, and even though I had a boyfriend. December 2016: Big Sean and Jhené Aiko attend a Lakers game  The American R&B singer and Big Sean made their first outing as an official couple at the Los Angeles Lakers game at the Staples Centre in December 2016, a few days after Aiko filed for divorce from Dot Da Genius, citing irreconcilable differences. The two were spotted holding hands and laughing as they sat courtside. February 2017: They attend the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s Oscar viewing party In February 2017, Big Sean and Jhene Aiko attended the 25th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation’s Oscar viewing party.

September 2017: Jhené declared Sean to be the love of her life In an interview with Billboard in September 2017, when discussing her album, Trip, the American entertainer declared Sean to be the love of her life. She said, It just came to a point where it was like, ‘I’m single, you’re single, we love each other. March 2019: Sean and Jhené Aiko break up Sean and Jhené Aiko briefly broke up in March 2019 but later rekindled their love. Rumours about their split began in 2018 after fans noticed that Jhené covered Sean’s portrait tattoo with a dragon. March 2020: Big Sean wishes Jhené a happy birthday In March 2020, Big Sean shared a heartfelt Instagram post wishing Jhené Aiko a happy 32nd birthday. The post, which has since been deleted, read in parts, Happy 3.16 Queen @jheneaiko! Always proud but never surprised cause I know how great you are at everything you do.

March 2021: Big Sean and Jhené Aiko attend the Grammys together Big Sean and Jhené Aiko walked the red carpet for the first time since their split at the 2021 Grammy Awards. Big Sean wore a black suit and shawl, and Aiko donned a stunning pink tulle dress. She was also spotted on a walk in Los Angeles in early July 2022, displaying a baby bump. November 2022: They welcome their first child together Aiko and Big Sean welcomed their first child together, Noah Hasani, on 8 November 2022. Noan is 3 years old as of January 2026.

May 2023: Big Sean celebrates Jhené Aiko on Mother’s Day In May 2023, Big Sean showed his appreciation for his ex-girlfriend Aiko in a sweet Mother’s Day post, which has since been deleted. He wrote, Seeing Jhené be such a great Mother makes me appreciate motherhood even more. November 2025: Rumours about their split emerged Rumours emerged that the American rapper and Jhene Aiko had split, with some sources stating that their breakup stems from commitment issues. However, neither Sean nor Aiko has officially commented on the break-up.
