Raila Odinga, ODM Party Thrown into Mourning as Top County Official Dies

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has been thrown into mourning. Peter Odhiambo is celebrate for his contributions to the Orange outfit.  This follows the sudden death of Peter “Rainbow” Odhiambo, the party’s Mombasa county Organising Secretary. Odhiambo, described as one of the party’s most devoted grassroots mobilisers, died, leaving behind a legacy of loyalty and energy that shaped ODM’s presence along the Coast.

His passing has sent shockwaves across the political establishment in Mombasa and within the wider ODM family, with leaders and supporters paying tribute. How did ODM mourn the party’s official? Mombasa governor and ODM Deputy Party Leader Abdullswamad Sheriff Nassir led in mourning the late Odhiambo. The county boss described the deceased as a committed and passionate mobiliser in the Orange party. In a condolence message shared on Thursday, October 9, Nassir said Odhiambo’s energy, loyalty, and unwavering belief in the cause of the people would be deeply missed. He conveyed the message on behalf of ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga, who is reported to be away on personal engagements.

“On behalf of our Party Leader, H. E. Raila Amolo Odinga, I convey our deepest condolences to the ODM family and the people of Mombasa following the passing of our County Organizing Secretary, Peter “Rainbow” Odhiambo. We join his family, friends, and the entire ODM fraternity in mourning this great comrade. May his memory continue to inspire us to strengthen the movement he so faithfully served,” Nassir said.  Odhiambo was a familiar face in ODM political events, playing a critical role in ODM’s strong showing in Mombasa during the past elections. He helped coordinate campaign logistics and rally support for candidates at the ward and constituency levels.
