Jennifer Karina speaks on why success can make relationships harder

Success is often measured by titles, businesses built, careers advanced and boards served. But what happens when professional success does not necessarily translate into fulfilling personal relationships?

This week, She Means Business takes a different direction, exploring a part of life that affects all of us: relationships.

Our guest, Jennifer Karina, has built an accomplished career in leadership, coaching and governance, serving on multiple boards and authoring books. But beyond her professional credentials, Karina is also a relationship coach who has spent time examining what makes relationships work and why they sometimes don’t.

She argues that highly successful people can face unique challenges in their personal relationships. The qualities that help people excel professionally; independence, ambition, high standards, decisiveness and a strong focus on results can sometimes create tension in intimate relationships if they are not balanced with vulnerability, communication and emotional connection.

In the conversation, Karina explores why people who appear to have everything together can struggle behind closed doors, and why building a harmonious relationship requires more than simply finding the “right” partner.
