A Look at What the Statement Means

Bahati’s bold claim that “Three million is a small amount of money” and that it’s what he spends in one week has started a big debate in Kenya.
The statement, which showed both his confidence and some frustration, has been understood in different ways. Some people see it as proof of his success.
They feel inspired by how an artist from a simple background can become so rich. They think his confidence is a good thing and a way to answer those who doubt him.
However, many Kenyans have criticized the statement. They think he is being arrogant and not sensitive to others. In a country where many people face money problems, saying you spend KES 3 million in a week seems hurtful. These critics say he is out of touch with his audience.
He says he can buy Radio 47 for his wife, Diana Marua, also made people angry. They see it as a show-off, not a sign of real ambition.

Why People Are Criticizing Him
The most interesting part of the statement is Bahati’s response to people who want him to give money to the national football team, Harambee Stars.
He sarcastically asks why he should skip his child’s birthday  in Naivasha to give money to the team. He also mentioned that Mariga, FKF Vice President, is not answering his calls and replying his texts.
This shows his personal frustration and suggests he really wants to help but can’t connect with the right people.

This part of his statement has started a separate discussion about what famous people should do for their country. Is it right for the public to expect a few rich people to support national teams or other causes?
