Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has told off the opposition, insisting that Kenya cannot be a country that campaigns from election cycle to another.

Speaking on Wednesday, the Deputy President said that this is the time to work and politics will come at a later time.

Kindiki stated that while the opposition campaigns, the Kenya Kwanza administration will continue to work for the people and the development of the country.

He noted that this is what President William Ruto is focused on.

“The President is not here to campaign, we must prioritise development because there is a lot of development we have delivered and many more to deliver. This is what the President is focused on. It can’t be politics from January to December, from one election to another. We must serve the people first then politics at the right time. Kazi Kwanza siasa baadae (Work first, politics later),” the DP said.

He added that for the country to develop, there must be national unit,y and it is the reason all the leaders are work as one team, under the broad-based government.

“For realisation of faster development, unity and peace are critical. With the broad-based government, we have the right environment to deliver development agenda across the country.”

The Deputy President also slammed the Opposition for sitting and planning tribal meetings that are not beneficial to the country.

Kindiki further stated that come 2027, Kenya Kwanza will be ready for them.

“I have seen our purported opponents regrouping along tribal lines. We are ready for them. When the time comes, we will handle them decisively because we are good in politics as well, but we are not interested in it right now,” he said.

In earlier remarks, the DP reiterated his support for Ruto to help him deliver on the promises they made to Kenyans.

He said that he will ensure all projects, including the ones launched in Emurua Dikirr in Narok county are completed on time.

“As Deputy President, I’ll assist the President to track the progress of all the projects launched here. We want to make sure all the projects commenced are completed on time and our people benefit from them as soon as possible,” Kindiki said.
