What Age Gap? Betty Kyallo’s Father Signals Approval of Charlie

Betty Kyallo’s father, Kyallo Snr, has expressed his readiness to meet his daughter’s boyfriend, Charlie, marking a significant step in their much-discussed relationship.

The journalist and businesswoman shared a photo with her father on social media, to which Charlie enthusiastically replied, “Finally.”

Betty, a mother of one, playfully tagged her partner in the post, writing, “He wants to have a meeting with you.” The announcement comes after the couple faced intense scrutiny over their age difference when they went public with their romance earlier this year.

Defending Their Relationship

Betty has repeatedly dismissed claims that Charlie is significantly younger, refuting online rumours that he is 21. “A lot of what you see online is lies—that ’21’ is a total lie,” she clarified. “Even if my boyfriend were 21, he’d still be an adult. But he’s not. Let’s stop focusing on that.”

With her trademark humour, she joked about older couples being too preoccupied with responsibilities to prioritise romance. “We decided to give the older generation time to relax and focus on their own issues,” she quipped. She also brushed off wedding speculation, adding, “That whole wedding pressure story isn’t for us. Right now, I’m just focusing on my baby.”

From Public Declarations to Turbulent Moments

The couple’s relationship first made headlines when Betty revealed on her Friday With Betty show that she was happily committed. “My man is from the Western region. Now I’m settled—I feel happy,” she shared.

However, their journey hasn’t been without drama. In March 2025, Charlie abruptly announced their breakup in a since-deleted social media post, writing cryptically, “Don’t tell no lie about me, and I won’t tell no truth about you.” He added, “Yes, we’re done. Even if she embarrasses me, I won’t lie about her.”

The post sparked concern, but Charlie later retracted his statement, attributing it to alcohol-induced impulsiveness. “Ain’t nobody breaking up. That was the alcohol talking,” he clarified. “I love my wife, and now I’ve got to apologise. Honestly, if anyone should’ve been left, it’s me.”

A Stern Warning to Critics

Charlie didn’t stop there. He lashed out at women who reached out to Betty with unsolicited advice, saying, “All those bitter women calling her to say, ‘Girl, you deserve better’—don’t get shot trying to advise my woman when we’re going through it.”

What’s Next?

With Betty’s father now formally inviting Charlie to meet, it seems the couple is moving past the turbulence. Fans are eager to see how their relationship evolves—especially whether Charlie will pass the “dad test.”

One thing’s certain: whether through humour, defiance, or heartfelt apologies, Betty and Charlie keep their audience hooked. As Betty often says, “Love isn’t for the faint-hearted.”
