Woman arrested with cocaine hidden in her private parts in Moyale

A woman was arrested after being found in possession of 290 grams of cocaine in Moyale, Marsabit County.

This follows a sting by a multi-agency security team targeting drug trafficking routes between Kenya’s Northern Frontier and the capital.

The narcotics were valued at Sh1 million, police said.

The suspect was arrested at a roadblock along the Moyale-Nairobi route when officers intercepted a Nairobi-bound bus during a routine stop-and-search operation.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspect’s behaviour raised suspicion, prompting female officers to isolate her for a more thorough body search.

It was during this inspection that officers uncovered 294 grams of cocaine, which had been meticulously concealed in her private parts in the Friday operation.

She was booked at Moyale Police Station, where she is being held as anti-narcotics officers from the DCI prepare to initiate legal proceedings.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks, particularly those exploiting the Northern Frontier corridor as a smuggling route into the city.

Elsewhere in the capital city, five suspected drug traffickers were arrested in operations mounted in Huruma, Karen and along Kirinyaga Road and more than 160 kilos of bhang recovered from them.

A team of detectives has been mounting operations targeting drug traffickers in the city in the past days where hundreds of kilos of the drugs were recovered.

In the Friday operations, 2,353 rolls of bhang were recovered together with assorted razzler material for packaging alongside filter tips.

The police also recovered two weighing machines and two motorcycles used for trafficking.

Nairobi police commander George Sedah said they have mounted operations to tame the crime.

Most of the bhang being seized originate western parts of the country and Moyale route.

The business is lucrative for the dealers as demand is said to have gone higher.

“We are determined to tame the menace,” said Sedah.

Those detained will be prosecuted on Tuesday April 22, he added.

Police say they want to address the menace following reports consumers have increased in numbers.
