The Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) is seeking to strengthen Kenya’s position as a key cruise ship destination with the arrival of the seventh liner in Mombasa this year.
On Monday, luxury cruise liner Crystal Symphony made it’s maiden voyage to Mombasa where it docked with 838 on board.
The ship which docked at the Mombasa port had 373 tourists with the remaining 465 crew members.
“Disembarking guests will leverage varied tourism experiences for unforgettable excursions with some venturing into safari at the Tsavo National Park and others exploring the rich history and culture of Mombasa Old Town, Fort Jesus, and the vibrant local markets,” said KTB.
According to KTB, cruise tourism is a key contributor to the tourism sector directly benefiting local communities, hotels, transport services, and tour operators contributing overall to revenue growth in the tourism sector.
KTB is now seeking to collaborate with industry players to make Mombasa and Lamu ports premier cruise tourism destinations.
MV Crystal Symphony which arrived from Mahé, Seychelles is a luxury cruise ship, measuring 238 meters in length.
Kenya Ports Authority says the vessel will be docked at the port for the next two days as guests explore coastal tourist attractions.
