Waita’s almsgiving initiative brings relief to Machakos Muslims

Former State House Chief of Staff and former Machakos gubernatorial aspirant Nzioka Waita, through his political initiative dubbed Masaku Mbee movement, has distributed foodstuffs to over 55 underprivileged Muslim communities from Mjini area in Machakos to help them break fast during iftar as Ramadan approaches.

Speaking on behalf of Waita at Mjini area former Kivaa ward MCA, Alex Kathinzi who spearheaded the charity drive, commended the initiative for fostering compassion and strengthening unity among Muslims and Machakos residents.

He also called upon Machakos leaders and stakeholders to unite and remember the underprivileged during the holy month with food stuff and basic needs as they dedicate themselves in prayers.

“Today is a big day for us as we extend a hand of generosity to our Muslim brothers and sisters during this sacred month. We have come together to ensure that those in need can eat and pray in peace. We appreciate the efforts of the Masaku Mbee movement for this noble act, and we pray that it will be a blessed month for all,” said Kathinzi.

Local residents who benefited from the Ramadan food distribution expressed their gratitude, with many hailing Waita for his consideration and consistency in supporting the Muslim community over the years.

Mariam Juma, a resident of Machakos town’s Mjini Village, lauded the initiative and noted that most of the Muslim faithful were struggling and do not have enough to fend for their families; hence, the foodstuffs would go a long way in catering for their needs.

“I appreciate the Masaku Mbee movement for remembering us during this Ramadhan season. Waita has never forgotten us since 2022; he has been there for us, providing support whenever needed,” added Mariam.

Beyond the charitable act, Kathinzi also addressed political issues affecting Machakos County, lamenting the ongoing wrangles between the county’s executive and the Assembly, warning that such conflicts were hindering service delivery.

He pointed out that the infighting would not benefit the people and urged senior leaders to mentor the youth, saying that their guidance would help shape future leaders.
