A postmortem examination has confirmed that Amos Langat, the man allegedly shot dead by police officer Mohamed Yusuf Keinan, attached to the office of State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, was shot seven times at close range.

Langat’s life was cut short in a pool hall dispute on Sunday night in Amboseli, Kawangware, a disagreement that ended in a hail of bullets.

According to Langat’s family, he sustained four gunshot wounds to the stomach and three to the chest following a dispute at a pool table in Amboseli, Kawangware.

Despite the severity of the incident, the suspect, who is reportedly hospitalized, has yet to be formally arrested, with detectives stating that he remains under police guard.

Citizen TV visited Chiromo Funeral Parlour, where grief and anguish filled the air as family and friends of the late Amos Langat gathered for a postmortem report.

Among those present were officers from the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), now investigating the case that implicates Mohamed Yusuf Keinan, a police officer attached to the office of State House spokesperson.

The autopsy confirmed the worst fears of Langat’s loved ones—he had suffered seven gunshot wounds, four to the stomach and three to the chest.

“Jamaa wetu amepigwa risasi ya kifua imepasua roho tumeona tukalia, tuko na mpango wa kupelekea nyumbani mtu wetu amekufa hivyo …” Langat’s Brother Enoch Langat said.

“Langat’s Friend Joel Chemisto added, “Alikuwa amepigwa risasi kadhaa kwa tumbo, mimi mwenyewe nikihesabu ilikuwa around saba …”

What started as a casual game of pool turned into a death sentence.

“Tunaomba serikali itusaidie. Amos ni kijana mdogo, ameoa juzi, ako na mtoto mdogo sana hata hajui nini inaendelea. So tunaomba tu usaidizi kama familia, kama rafiki pia, nasisidiza tusaidiwe Amos apate haki take …” Joel Chemisto, Langat’s friend said.

With grief weighing heavily on their hearts, Langat’s family is now finalizing arrangements to transport his remains to Bureti, Kericho County. The burial date remains uncertain, but their demand for justice is unwavering.

Meanwhile, the prime suspect, Mohamed Yusuf Keinan, is yet to be taken into custody. Instead, he checked himself into a local hospital, citing hand and shoulder injuries.

Detectives confirm he remains under police guard as they await a medical report—one that could determine the next steps in the investigation.
