The education fraternity has been plunged into mourning following the untimely death of Kenya Primary Schools Headteachers Association (KEPSHA) Chairman, Johnson Nzioka.  Nzioka, who also served as the headteacher of Donholm Primary School in Nairobi, succumbed to injuries sustained in a road accident on Sunday, February 16, along Nairobi-Mombasa Road. His vehicle rammed into a trailer in the Athi River area. Nzioka’s death was confirmed by KEPSHA’s National Treasurer, Kennedy Kyeva.  How did Johnson Nzioka rise to KEPSHA chairperson position? A seasoned educationist, Nzioka had nearly two decades of experience as a headteacher, having served in various schools across Nairobi. He was also the organising secretary of the Federation of East African Primary Schools Headteachers, a role that amplified his influence in the regional education sector. Nzioka assumed the position of KEPSHA’s acting national chairperson on March 3, 2021, following the retirement of Nicholas Gathemia.

Under his leadership, KEPSHA remained committed to improving primary education standards, advocating for headteachers’ welfare, and fostering beneficial partnerships for educators and learners.
