Modern Furniture Pacific founder Gibson Murage has found himself in a precarious position where he had to hide with his dear daughter as protests rocked his city factory. What caused protests at Murage’s factory? Murage started his furniture business in Nyeri and has since branched out to Nairobi and Nakuru cities. While the opening of the Nairobi store was colourful, it has since been plagued by many problems which started with the fire that razed down his factory. . After the fire went down, it emerged that one of his employees had disappeared. The businessman also lost machinery worth KSh 50 million. Why did Murage hide? Recently, a group of charged men showed up in front of Murage’s warehouse demanding to find their loved one whom they claim went missing in his factory and he had to hide with his daughter.
“I have just communicated to Gibson Murage Gitonga. He has informed me of ongoing protests outside Agripark, Ruiru Branch,” said his influencer Karangu Muraya. “I hope that justice prevails for both sides,” he added. On the day of the fire, Murage’s employee, Muhatia, was thought to be burnt beyond recognition but Murage explained that it was not him, but a dog. When the news of the protest came out, Kenyans formed opinions on the matter and shared them online. Ezekiel said: “Is Murage supposed to be guarding his employees…why should they question him because of his employee’s disappearance?” “Does this mean that employers will always be blamed if an employee disappears? Should he guard his employee even when going everywhere?” Meg Nyawira said Since Murage started becoming famous he has faced a lot of challenges maybe someone somewhere is not happy about his progress and is trying to incriminate him so he can go down.
“I feel for him even if that guy disappeared after the fire,” she said. “We all heard Murage say his important documents were stolen.What if he was the snitch and the person using him eliminated him after he did the job and now Murage faces this?
