The Education Cabinet Secretary took to social media to highlight a tweet from a parody account using his name and title.
The tweet, posted by an account with over 11,000 followers, claimed the CS resigned due to the rise in abductions across the country. “It is with a heavy heart but with a clear conscience that I stand before you today to announce my resignation as the Education Cabinet secretary. This decision has not come lightly but is one that I must take to remain true to my values, principles and unwavering commitment to the Republic of Kenya,” the statement read in part. Given the account’s large following and its use of a photo of CS Ogamba as the profile picture, it was nearly impossible for Kenyans to dismiss the resignation reports. However, Ogamba clarified the matter, flagging the post and stating that he has not resigned from his position in the Ministry of Education.
“Beware of a fake X account purporting to be the Cabinet Secretary of Education,” Ogamba’s statement read.
