In under 10 minutes, I heard Yvonne (his kin) scream. At that point, I drew my gun which was just next to me,” Omole said. He adds that the unknown attackers held Yvonne captive, and dragged her towards his bedroom. It is at this point that he opened fire to save his life.

“They had these police combat. The only thing that was different is that they had a red masks all of them. One person was holding a torch to blindfold me,” he added. Omole says he fired three bullets, with two hitting the roof and one hitting one of the men. The attackers broke a nearby window and fled from the gunshots. The political activist has reported the matter to the Mlolongo Police Station, saying his attack may have been a result of his tough stance on matters of governance in the country.

‘”I have had terrifying phone calls telling me to stop my activism. I have also had a lot of warnings even in WhatsApp groups.”Omole said.  Machakos Police Commander Patrick Lobolia confirmed the incident, saying the police are investigating it as a case of attempted robbery. Lobolia added that two spent cartridges were recovered from the crime scene. Omole’s gun has since been confiscated for ballistic examination.
