Two men sustained injuries following a hit-and-run incident at the Primrose Hill Road and Regent’s Park Road junction in central London on January 1, 2025. Locals knocked by a car while watching fireworks on New Year’s Eve. This is after a 40-year-old man suspected of drunk driving swerved his car towards a crowd watching fireworks at midnight to usher in the New Year.
He allegedly hit one pedestrian before knocking another while getting away. Daily Mail reported that metropolitan police officers were called to the scene and later arrested the suspect. According to the law enforcement officers, the driver left the scene and drove off along Primrose Hill Road, where a second pedestrian was struck.
The incident came after an earlier warning against visiting the viewpoint on New Year’s Eve following the murder of 16-year-old Harry Pitman on December 31, 2023. Pitman was stabbed as crowds gathered to celebrate at the same spot. Screams also followed the commotion as residents panicked while moving to safety. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that one of those injured by the car incident was a 21-year-old man. He is said to have sustained minor injuries and did not require medical treatment. While the second pedestrian, a 59-year-old man, was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital.
