Jacky Vike, aka Awinja, has proved she is a master of many languages after effortlessly conversing in Kikuyu. Jacky Vike, aka Awinja, addressed the audience during a traditional marriage ceremony in fluent Kikuyu. Jacky Vike speaks at wedding In a video shared on her Instagram, Jacky addressed a group of people at an Itara. Itara is one of the traditional Kikuyu ceremonies that make up a traditional marriage. It usually takes place after a ruracio (dowry payment ceremony), where the bride’s family goes to the groom’s home to see the nesting place for their daughter. Adhering to her signature style, Jacky was impeccably dressed, her attire slightly similar to the Nigerian Agbada or the Swahili dera. Yet, it wasn’t her striking ensemble that drew the most attention; it was her eloquent speech that left the audience spellbound. Jacky took the microphone and spoke fluent Kikuyu, a language that is not native to her, as the audience listened in awe. She said: “Praise the lord, praise the lord again. My name is Jacky, and I am born again. Clap for me.” The people clapped, wowed by the actress and filmmaker’s Kikuyu proficiency. “Yesterday at @pablojohny itara, how did I do?” Jacky captioned the clip.
