Evans Kosgei’s Father Says Son Sold His Trees, Sheep to Fund Jackline’s Education: “Aliangusha Yote”

 

The father of Evans Kosgei, the man at the centre of a tragic case involving the death of his wife, has unveiled the extent of his son’s sacrifices to support his wife’s education. Evans Kosgei’s father said his son made alot of sacrifices in order to put his wife in school. What was Kosgei’s life like growing up? During an interview with Eldoret Online TV’s YouTube channel, Evans’ father provided insights into his son’s upbringing and the events leading up to the alleged crime. R Evans, who hailed from Elgeyo Marakwet, faced academic challenges, repeating Form Four multiple times before meeting Jackline Jemutai Kimaiyo, his future wife.  When Jacklnie was expectant with their child, he took her home to his parents, who welcomed their child before he left for Nyeri County to seek employment. Before departing, a significant decision was made within the family: Evans would sell their assets, including trees and sheep, to finance his wife Jackline’s education. Family learnt of son’s death via social media “We agreed with him that he had planted trees. He himself cut down all the trees and sold his sheep to continue with the education of this wife of his,” Evans’ father revealed. The tragic turn of events, resulting in the deaths of both Evans and Jackline, sent shockwaves through the community. The family learned of the devastating news through phone calls and social media platforms, which left them grappling with disbelief and searching for answers. As investigations into the alleged crimes continue, the revelation of Evans Kosgei’s sacrifices adds a touching layer to the narrative.
