Kenyan Man Who Scored 269 Marks in KCPE Establishes Multi-Million Company

Source: Facebook Muchiri proceeded to Ngurwe-ini Secondary School in Murang’a county, where he redeemed himself and scored an impressive mean grade of A-.  His excellent results saw him admitted to Dedan Kimathi University, where he took a course in computer science. “I went to Dandora Primary School and completed my KCPE in the year 2004 and obtained 265 marks. I proceeded to Ngurwe-ini Secondary School in Murang’a county where I got a mean grade of A minus. I went to Kimathi University and I did my undergraduate in computer science,” Muchiri told TUKO.co.ke in an exclusive interview. He is the founder of Reisen Safaris, a tours and travel firm. How Frank Muchiri established the tour company Upon completing his studies, Muchiri seamlessly transitioned into the realm of academia, embracing the role of an academic writer. For over a decade, he dealt with research and critical analyses. His foray into academic writing enabled him to save over KSh 2 million, which he used to start a tourism company. “I started the company in the year 2023. My inspiration to start a tourism company came from a combination of personal interests, values, and a vision for the kind of experiences I want to offer to travelers. The initial capital I started with is KSh 2.1 million which I used to buy a tour van but I’m still planning to invest more in the business,” Muchiri disclosed. What challenges did Frank Muchiri face? The entrepreneur cited market saturation, financial management, and brand awareness as some of his challenges when he established the company. He explained that it takes time before the tourism business becomes profitable, and one needs to exercise patience. “Effective financial management and budgeting are crucial for sustainability, and I recognise the importance of navigating through these financial challenges. A strong online presence is crucial for success, and I am actively working on developing these aspects for my tourism business,” he expounded.  Muchiri said technology had significantly transformed the tour and travel industry, revolutionising business operations. He noted that the rise of online travel platforms and booking systems had made it easier for customers to plan and book their trips. “We’re currently developing a tour app to provide real-time information, interactive maps, and features that enhance the overall travel experience for users,” he revealed. Muchiri said he is constantly updated on trends in the competitive travel industry to ensure the company remains innovative and relevant. “We regularly conduct market research to stay informed about changing customer preferences, emerging destinations, and industry trends. We utilise surveys, customer feedback, and data analytics to gather relevant insights,” he said.
