Ruto leads leaders in mourning Mandago’s mother

President William Ruto has led national leaders in mourning the death of Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago’s mother, Mama Esther Jerotich, who passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026.

The family confirmed that Mama Esther died while undergoing treatment in hospital.

In a condolence message, President Ruto described Mama Esther, fondly known as Gogo Esther, as a woman of grace, kindness, and enterprise whose life left a lasting impact on her family and society.

“May God grant comfort and abiding strength to the family and friends of Esther Jerotich Tapsiargai as they endure this deep loss,” President Ruto said.

“Gogo Esther, the beloved mother of Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago, will be remembered as a woman of grace, kind in heart, and enterprising in spirit.”

The Head of State noted that through her guidance and example, Mama Esther raised upright children and instilled values of discipline, care, and integrity.

He further drew encouragement from Scripture, quoting Job 5:11, which speaks of hope and reassurance for those who mourn.

“May this word bring peace and steady hope to all who grieve her passing. Rest in eternal peace, Gogo Esther,” Ruto added.

Leaders across the political divide joined the President in extending messages of sympathy to the Mandago family, underscoring Mama Esther’s influence beyond her immediate household.

Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi described the loss of a mother as a deeply painful experience, noting that her love and legacy would continue to guide the family.

“My condolences to Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Kiplagat Mandago for losing your mother, Gogo Esther Jerotich. Losing a mother leaves an unfilled void, but her love and legacy will be your strength,” Sudi said, adding that her life embodied kindness, resilience, and integrity.

Head of Public Service Felix Koskei also conveyed his sympathies, praying for comfort and resilience for the family during the difficult period.

“I extend my condolences to the family; may God grant them comfort, resilience, and peace following her loss. May Mama rest in eternal peace,” Koskei said.

Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Shollei joined other leaders in paying tribute to Mama Esther, describing her death as a painful loss and assuring the family of prayers and support.

“Sincere condolences to Jackson Mandago, Uasin Gishu County Senator, and his entire family on the passing of his beloved mother, Gogo Esther Tapsiarga Lelei. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this painful time,” Shollei said.

Mama Esther’s death has drawn widespread messages of condolence from leaders, friends, and residents, reflecting the respect she commanded and the legacy she leaves behind.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family.
