Tanzanian socialite and actress Frida Kajala has spoken candidly about her long-standing relationship with Bongo star Harmonize, shedding light on their shared history and recalling a moment when the singer stepped in to help her during a difficult period.
Her remarks come just days after a video surfaced online showing Kajala and Harmonize sharing an intimate moment at a nightclub, nearly three years after their very public split.
In the now-viral clip, the two are seen getting close shortly before Harmonize went on stage to perform, reigniting speculation about a possible rekindling of their romance.
The footage has divided opinion online. While some fans were excited by the apparent reunion, others urged caution, pointing to the turbulent nature of their past relationship.
Kajala had previously apologised publicly to her daughter, Paula, for the emotional strain caused by her highly publicised involvement with the musician.
Kajala Recalls When Harmonize Helped Her in a Time of Need
Speaking in a recent interview, Kajala revealed that she and Harmonize go back many years, long before fame and fortune entered the picture.
She recalled a particularly challenging time when she was struggling financially and turned to him for help with her daughter’s school fees.
“I have known Harmonize for a very long time,” she said. “There was a time Paula was sent home from school when she was in Form Two because I didn’t have the fees. I had nothing at all. Harmonize was still trying to make a name for himself then. I explained my situation, and he went to the bank and gave me the money right there by the roadside.
According to Kajala, the experience reflects the sacrifices she has made to ensure her daughter’s education was never interrupted, even during her lowest moments.
A Relationship That Has Never Truly Left the Spotlight
Harmonize, whose real name is Rajab Abdulkahali Ibrahim and who is popularly known as Konde Boy, once again found himself at the centre of relationship headlines late last year after he and Kajala were seen together in Zanzibar.
The reunion took place during a high-profile concert where the singer was performing, with their affectionate interactions quickly spreading across social media.
Their relationship has long been one of East Africa’s most talked-about celebrity romances, marked by intense affection, dramatic breakups and very public reconciliations.
The two first confirmed their relationship in early 2021, shortly after Harmonize parted ways with his former Italian wife, Sarah Michelotti.
At the time, he openly celebrated Kajala, showering her with gifts and declarations of love that captivated fans across the region.
However, the romance was anything but smooth. Over time, the pair broke up and reunited several times, often airing their differences online.
In mid-2022, Harmonize made a grand gesture by proposing to Kajala during a private ceremony attended by close friends and family. She accepted, leading many to believe they were headed towards marriage.
That optimism was short-lived. By December 2022, Kajala announced that they had gone their separate ways once again, using her platform to reflect on the relationship and the lessons she had learned.
Zanzibar Reunion Sparks Fresh Speculation
Their recent appearance together in Zanzibar has once again thrust them into the public eye. Witnesses claimed the two travelled together after the concert, prompting renewed rumours that the Konde Music Worldwide boss could be considering another proposal.
If that were to happen, it would mark the second time Harmonize has asked Kajala to marry him — a sign of the deep, if complicated, bond they appear to share.
