Why Sh250k Rent is the New “Reasonable” for Rapper Dyana Cods

Kenyan rapper Dyana Cods recently shared details about her experiences with housing in Nairobi, highlighting the contrast between her past challenges and current living standards.

She disclosed that the lowest rent she had paid in the city was 40,000 KES per month, describing this period as difficult. ”My cheapest rent ilikuwa mbaya it was like 40k,” she said.

Cods noted that this amount represented a significant financial strain at the time, marking a challenging chapter in her personal and professional life.

In comparison, fellow public figure Kamene Goro previously revealed that the cheapest house she ever rented in Nairobi cost 55,000 KES per month.

Current Rent Expectations

In comparison to her earlier experiences, Cods outlined her present expectations for accommodation in Nairobi. She stated that she now considers 250,000 KES per month a reasonable standard for rent.

Despite this high figure, she explained that she is currently living in a location she described as very cheap, indicating that her current accommodation does not fully reflect her financial capacity or lifestyle expectations.

Some responded humorously to her figures, with one user saying, “Alhamdhulila abdul100k kwani nakulea😏 Acha nimaintain single😅,” reflecting amusement at the contrast between Cods’ past and present standards.

Others commented on affordability, with one fan noting, “User your cravings Jaba na anaishi Umoja two😂,” while another joked, “Leila ann 129 For me toa hio zero kwa 40 😂😂😂😂😂,” referencing how the low rent of 40,000 KES seemed small compared to current Nairobi rates.
