Tanzania’s political scene has been dramatically influenced by its biggest music stars. Ahead of today’s election, Diamond Platnumz and Rayvanny have publicly declared their full support for President Samia Suluhu Hassan on social media.

Their endorsements, made just hours before citizens head to the polls, are a significant moment in the intersection of entertainment and politics in the region.

Diamond Platnumz, the CEO of Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB), posted a long, heartfelt tribute to President Samia Suluhu Hassan. He praised her leadership qualities and hard work, while also acknowledging the challenges she faces.

The core of his message was an assurance of support and a pledge to vote for her.

“Mama yangu, you are a very gentle and wise President. You are a hard worker… You have done and continue to do great work, starting in Education, Health, Agriculture, Fishing, Infrastructure, and many other areas.” — Diamond Platnumz

He addressed the negativity that often surrounds leaders, urging her not to be discouraged.

Diamond pledged that all entities he leads would be voting for her and her running mate, Dr. Nchimbi.

He also highlighted the common human tendency to only praise someone after they are gone, asking her not to worry about those who challenge her.

Fellow WCB star Rayvanny offered an even more definitive statement of support, framing President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s presidency as a divine mandate.

His post suggested that her leadership was part of “God’s plan” and, therefore, beyond human challenge.

“Mama, allow me to remind you as your child that… you occupied that seat of the presidency by the plan of Almighty God. If God chose you even before we cast our vote, who can stop the choice of Almighty God???” — Rayvanny

Rayvanny concluded his message by confirming his vote and sending his best wishes. The use of multiple green tick emojis emphasised his strong approval and unwavering support.

The public declarations by two of East Africa’s most followed celebrities are a powerful signal to their massive fanbases. Their combined reach across platforms like YouTube (where Diamond Platnumz is a continental streaming giant) and Instagram ensures their political stance reaches millions of young voters.

Both artists made it clear that their support was for the continued progress of the nation under her leadership.
