Nairobi: 2 PP2 Pupils Killed, Others Injured as Building Debris Hits School Grounds

Two families in Kayole, Nairobi county, are mourning the sudden and tragic deaths of their children following a fatal incident at Emmanuel New Life Learning Centre. Emmanuel New Life Learning Centre, a school where two pupils died.  On Monday afternoon, October 6, at approximately 12.45pm, construction debris from a neighbouring building site collapsed onto the school compound, striking four PP2 pupils as they washed their hands during lunch break.  How did Kayole school pupils die? According to a police report obtained by Citizen Digital, two of the children died on the spot, while another two were rushed to Uwezo Clinic before they were referred to Kenyatta National Hospital, where they were admitted in critical condition.

The debris, which included stones and other construction materials, reportedly fell from an adjacent plot under active development, raising serious concerns about safety compliance. Authorities have since launched a full investigation to determine the cause of the collapse and whether the construction site met the required safety and regulatory standards. The incident sparked widespread outrage among parents and residents of Kayole, who demanded stricter enforcement of building codes and safety regulations, especially around learning institutions.
