Reason Zuchu Is Threatening Legal Action Against Confederation of African Football

Tanzanian music sensation Zuchu has publicly accused the Confederation of African Football (CAF) of failing to pay her for her performance at the final of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024.

The singer took to her social media to express her frustration with the organisation and its agents over the outstanding dues.

The artist’s complaint was detailed in a public post on her Instagram page, titled “Outstanding CHAN 2024 Payment for Completed Performance”.

The complaint addresses the significant delay in receiving her payment for the performance that took place on 30 August 2025 in Nairobi, Kenya.

In her post, Zuchu stated that the payment was meant to be settled immediately after the show, according to her agreement with LEAP Creative Agency, a company contracted by CAF.

“I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my concern and frustration regarding the outstanding payment for my recent performance in Nairobi on August 30, 2025,” she complained.

The Breakdown in Communication

Zuchu’s management has been in constant communication with the agency, but the issue remains unresolved.

The singer highlighted that her team was sent “unverifiable, suspicious, and clearly not paid out” proofs of payment. This led her to believe that there was a deliberate delay in fulfilling the financial obligation.

She expressed deep disappointment, having upheld her end of the bargain by delivering a high-level performance. She also revealed that she had turned down other gigs to be available for the CHAN finale.

“It is highly disappointing to find that the same level of professionalism has not been extended in return when it comes to fulfilling your financial obligations,” she stated.

“As an artist, I expect to be treated with the respect and fairness that any professional artist deserves. This delay is not only unfair but also completely unacceptable. As an artist, I dropped previously booked shows to take on the finale show. I do not expect this unfair treatment,” Zuchu added.

The CHAN 2024 Finale

Zuchu was part of a star-studded line-up at the CHAN 2024 closing ceremony held at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

The Tanzanian songstress performed alongside Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo and Kenya’s Savara.

The final match was the culmination of a tournament co-hosted for the first time by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

The decision to host the event across the three nations was seen as a message of unity and ambition for the region’s footballing future. The final match featured two-time winners Morocco and first-time finalists Madagascar.

A Warning to CAF

Zuchu ended her post with a stern warning, insisting that the payment be settled immediately without any further delay.

She added that she would be forced to take “further action to recover the funds owed” if the matter was not resolved.

“It is integral that the balance is settled immediately without any further delay or postponement; otherwise, I will have no choice but to pursue further action to recover the funds owed.”

The post quickly garnered attention from fans, who expressed their support for the singer.
