“Date for Money, Love Will Follow” – Shorn Arwa’s Bold Take on Modern Relationships

Kenyan digital content creator Shorn Arwa has stirred conversation once again with her blunt dating advice: “Date for money, love will come.”

Speaking exclusively to Mpasho, the UK-based influencer dismissed the idea of dating purely for emotional connection, arguing that financial security should be a priority in relationships.

“Don’t date potential,” she warned. “Are you going to pay your rent with ‘he might be a good man’?”

Shorn compared today’s dating expectations with historical royal marriages, noting that marrying for love is a modern invention.

“In the ’70s and ’80s, it was prince to princess — no one married Kang’ethe from the village just because they ‘loved’ him. Try marrying for money. It’s amazing,” she said with a laugh.

She openly admitted to marrying her husband partly because of his financial stability. “He knows — 100 percent. I say it all the time,” she revealed.

However, she clarified that their relationship is not built solely on money. Over time, love grew. “It’s not that I didn’t love him, but knowing I wouldn’t suffer financially made it easier to open my heart,” she said.

When asked to choose between a good partner and a good father, Shorn didn’t hesitate: “A good partner will be a good parent.”

She added, “But someone can be a good father and still be a terrible partner. Some men only stay for the kids — be aware.”

Her comments echo the same unapologetic tone she struck in mid-December 2024, when she advised single women to keep their options open until a man makes things official.

In a viral TikTok video, the mother of one declared, “My sister, date all of them! Date all of them until you find the one.” She captioned the clip, “Until you find your special one…” sparking massive online debate.

The video attracted over 284,000 views, 40,000 likes and thousands of shares, with netizens split between agreeing with her and criticising the advice as inappropriate — particularly coming from a married woman.
