Multi-agency teams are investigating an incident where a 63-year-old man was electrocuted at his compound in Nyakach, Kisumu County.

The man identified as David Oduogo was clearing trees in his compound when the incident happened on May 21, police said.

Police, Kenya Power, and Ketraco officials who visited the scene said the man had serious burns.

They found out that the man had cut a tree, which landed on the live main line of high voltage connecting Sondu and Kisumu.

It was then that he was electrocuted. He died on the spot.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations, police said.

Such cases of electrocution on villagers pruning trees have been on the rise amid a campaign to address the trend.

In Masinga, Machakos County, a 31-year-old man died after a tree he was cutting fell on him.

The incident happened in Ulaani village.

Police visited the scene and found the body of Joshua Ngayai crushed after the tree landed on him.

The body was moved to the local mortuary pending probe and autopsy.

In Gatanga, Muranga County, a man aged 45 was hacked to death by his cousin in an altercation.

The body of Samuel Ndungu Ndugua was found lying on the ground unconscious, with blood oozing from his nose and ears.

The assailant claimed the deceased had insulted him on several occasions.

The deceased was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The motive is due to a land dispute, police said.

The assailant was later arrested pending interrogation and possible prosecution.

Meanwhile, police are investigating a murder in a case where the body of a man was found on the Kaplong-Bomet highway.

The man was later identified as Shadrack Koech from the Kaplong village.

Police said his body bore signs of physical injuries and cuts on hands, facial area, plus eyes that appeared consistent with injuries sharp and blunt object.

The motive of the murder was not immediately established.

The body was moved to the local mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.
