What Kenyans celebrate most about the media

A majority of Kenyans appreciate the media primarily for its freedom, with 31 per cent celebrating this as its strongest value, according to the 2024 State of Media report by the Media Council of Kenya.

Quick dissemination of information follows closely at 24 per cent, highlighting the public’s demand for timely news.

Technological advancements in media take third place at 19 per cent, indicating the growing appreciation for innovation in journalism.

Additionally, 18 per cent of respondents value the diversification of platforms, particularly social media, as a key strength in accessing news.

Only 8 per cent cited professionalism in the media as a notable highlight, suggesting an area for growth.
