Juja MP George Koimburi to face court over Kshs13B AUC chair bid claims

Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi will be arraigned at Milimani Law Courts Wednesday over claims that the government spent Kshs13B on Raila Odinga’s African Union Commission (AUC) chair bid.

Koimburi made the remarks over the weekend at a church in Juja.

He was arrested on Tuesday morning outside his residence and is currently detained at Kamukunji Police Station.

Before his detention, he was taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters along Kiambu Road for questioning.

His lawyer Ndegwa Njiru defended him saying demanding accountability on expenditure is not a criminal offence.

Meanwhile, a section of Koimburi’s colleagues in the National Assembly has condemned his allegations on the use of public funds to campaign for Raila Odinga and that African leaders were influenced to vote for the Kenyan candidate.
