Taking to his X account, Shakur explained he has tried to resign but his letters have allegedly not been responded to.
“Many People Ask me Why I choose to be an activist despite being an officer. ‘I CAN’T STAND KASONGO’. After the Gen Z protests, I was interdicted and then reinstated back to work and posted to a hardship area as punishment. I have written 2 resignation Letters and none has been responded to. They said they wouldn’t let me go. They even told my Lawyer the exact thing. I will always stand for justice.”
Shakur went on to advise fellow police officers to follow the law.
“I was trained for 9 months as an officer, I knew having a sniper on top of KICC shooting harmless Kenyans was wrong. I know Abductions are wrong, extra-judicial killings are wrong. I want to urge every officer in the service not to follow unlawful orders. Let them charge you with anything they want. Stand for what is right .”
Shakur was on Monday 20th, 2025 released on a Sh50,000 cash bail after he denied incitement charges against him.

Shakur was on Monday 20th,2025 released on a Sh50,000 cash bail after he denied incitement charges against him.
Shakur who joined Kenyans in the anti-finance bill protests in June was on Monday charged with publishing false information touching on the recent wave of abductions.
He was arrested on January 15, at the Kamiti Maximum Prison staff residence and booked at the Muthaiga police station before being arraigned in court under a miscellaneous application.
The DCI told the court that at the time of his arrest, his phone was seized and they would require sufficient time to subject it to forensic examination. In July 2024 Shakur took to his socials to share his experience after the protests.
Speaking on social media, he stated that he was being followed everywhere he went. He claimed he was also followed around by a vehicle.
Shakur said he then decided to switch his phone off, just in case he contacted someone, and they were traced.
“Niliamua nizime simu nisicontact mtu yeyote juu nikicontact mtu yeyote, huyo mtu anaweza fuatwa. Nikaamua tu niende incognito,” he said.

Cop Shakur narrated almost being hit by a car as he went for a night out in Kikuyu.
“I went missing I’ve been sleeping in the car, and I don’t want to contact anywhere about where I live),” he said.
He stated he slept in the car for a while before seeking refuge at Githurai 45 where he could not be traced.
Shakur’s wife reported of his missing and his lawyer worked to get his anticipatory bail. Shakur said his wife was also followed, leading to his (previous) arrest.
Cop Shakur said after resigning he hopes to go back to school to pursue a Human Resource Course.
In November 2024, Shakur was nominated for the Human Rights Defenders Awards.
