Reactions as Ruto’s Nominee for Top Job Fails to Explain What GDP Means: “Which Country Is This”

 

President William Ruto’s nominee for Consul General to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Charles Githinji, left Kenyans stunned as he failed to correctly explain the meaning of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Upon being asked further questions by the Committee Chair of Defense, Nelson Koech expressed his disappointment with Githinji, saying that he was surprised with his lack of preparation.Reactions from Netizens Githinji’s response to the question on GDP has caused an online uproar, with some netizens expressing total disappointment in the nominee and others empathising with him. Mkisii_mmeru said. “The people around rais (president) will embarass him.” Mr.Kifaki questioned. ” Si huyu angefanya research before aende vetting?”(This loosely translates to, he should have done his research before going for vetting). OMatacho questioned. ” Surely, how did we get here as a country?” Mwalimu_sk said. Forgive him for his name has already been approved. What is Gross Domestic Product (GDP)? GDP refers to the total market value of all final goods and services produced within a country’s economy over a specific time frame. This encompasses goods and services produced by economic agents within the country, regardless of ownership, and excludes items that are resold. The GDP is a widely used indicator worldwide to measure a nation’s overall output and economic activity. Tourism CS Nominee Fails to Impress Kenyans During Vetting Tourism Cabinet Secretary nominee Peninah Malonza failed to impress Kenyans during vetting. Those who commented on her responses said she lacked a clear understanding of the issues affecting the ministry she was nominated to head. Some Kenyans argued that her way of answering questions cast doubt on her suitability for the tasks ahead of her.
