Emotions ran high as Indians in Kenya remembered their Independence Day at an event held at India House, 151, Limuru Road in Nairobi.

The ceremony was led by Indian High Commissioner Namgya Khampa.

The event was followed by a Wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial Cemetery near Nyayo Stadium.

This was in remembrance of the soldiers who died during the First World War.

In attendance was the High Commissioner of India, KDF Officials and Defence Advisor of India V Shirkidant.

The Independence Day ceremony was concluded with a mass tree plantation drive organised by the High Commission of India in collaboration with the Earth Keepers Foundation.

The bamboo tree plantation event was held at City Park Nairobi (opposite Aga Khan Hospital).
