“Combined 300 Years of Experience”: Nameless on Photo with Koinange, Machoka & Churchill

Kenyan musician Nameless has addressed his studio appearance alongside veteran media personalities on Citizen TV’s JKLive show hosted by Jeff Koinange.

The studio session brought together broadcasting veteran Fred Obachi Machoka, comedy star Daniel “Churchill” Ndambuki, and safari rally legend Patrick Njiru.

The gathering took place ahead of Machoka’s celebration marking 50 years in the media industry.

A Gathering of Industry Legends

Posting on his social media pages following the broadcast, Nameless shared photos from the studio and marvelled at the group’s cumulative experience.

“Hapa combine age and experience is more than 300 years! OG Bench!”

Nameless joked about feeling young amongst the veteran broadcasters and sports figures present on the set.

“Good vibes at JKL last night! I felt like a GenZ in the presents of some of these legends like Patrick Njiru and Fred Obachi Machoka and Jeff Koinange. Only Daniel “Churchill” Ndambuki Ndio mdogo wangu hapa!” Nameless joked.

Reflecting on 25 Years in Music

Nameless explained that the studio reunion was organised to honour Machoka’s five-decade career. He noted that the veteran broadcaster’s journey inspired his own career in music.

“We were here because of Fred Obachi Machoka who is celebrating 50 years in media and he is planning a big celebration this Sato 10 Oct at Ulinzi grounds.”

Nameless reflected on his own milestone of two and a half decades in the Kenyan music scene.

“I am truly inspired by uncle Fred’s journey and resilience! Me Niko 25 years and this shows me how much more I still have to do!”

Five Decades Behind the Microphone

Fred Obachi Machoka began his media career in the 1970s at the national broadcaster, then known as the Voice of Kenya (now KBC).

Before joining media, Machoka served as an officer in the General Service Unit (GSU) for four years.

A win in a radio competition led him to broadcasting, where he built a career spanning 50 years across radio and television. He currently hosts the popular flagship programmeRoga Roga on Radio Citizen and Citizen TV.

Golden Jubilee Concert at Ulinzi GroundsThe celebration, titled Machoka @50, is scheduled for Saturday, 10 October at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi. The event will run from noon until midnight.

International rhumba stars have arrived in Nairobi for the concert. The lineup features Congolese icon Koffi Olomide, Cameroonian artist Sam Fan Thomas, and Congolese singer Mbilia Bel.

Local acts including Them Mushrooms, Les Wanyika, and variousbenga musicians will also perform.
