A chance street encounter in Nairobi has put 23-year-old rising artist Golden Bahati in the spotlight after he said he’s ready to undergo a DNA test with musician Kelvin Kioko Bahati.
Golden Bahati shares a striking physical resemblance to the established star. Geoffrey Mosiria met him on the streets of Nairobi while on his usual duties.
The two met on the streets of Nairobi, where Golden Bahati spoke openly about his ambitions and his desire to connect with the singer.
Seeking a Music Collaboration
Golden Bahati explained that meeting the senior musician and recording music together remains his primary goal. He said he wants the chance to present his talent directly.

“People say I resemble Bahati. My name is Golden Bahati,” he told Mosiria.He revealed that reaching the singer had proven difficult due to the artist’s celebrity status.
“My biggest dream is to meet with Bahati, we do a collaboration but at first nataka nimuonyeshe what I have to offer. Nimekuwa nikimtafuta,” Golden Bahati noted regarding his attempts to meet him.
Family Origins and DNA Test Agreement
During the conversation, Golden Bahati provided details about his family background. He clarified that both of his parents are alive and live in Nyahururu.
He further explained that his family is Kikuyu, whereas musician Bahati hails from the Kamba community.
“I’m from Nyahururu, but unlike Bahati, I am not a Kamba and I’m ready for a DNA test.”
Despite these distinct backgrounds, Golden Bahati affirmed his full willingness to undertake genetic testing.
Nairobi County official Geoffrey Mosiria agreed to facilitate the meeting and sponsor the testing process. He committed to taking both individuals to a government facility to clear up the matter.
“I want to make sure that we do DNA for the two of you to confirm if through your brothers,” Mosiria stated. He added: “Pale kwa government lab muende ifanywe.”
An Uprising Gospel Artist
At 23 years old, Golden Bahati is working to build a career as an uprising gospel musician. He acknowledged that he has not yet recorded his songs in a professional studio.
He performed his short acapella snippet of the unrecorded song during the street interaction. He also sang lines from another gospel composition: “Yesu wangu wee nipende naomba unipende.”

Mosiria promised to assist the young musician by securing studio access and supporting his recording efforts. He encouraged GoldenBahati while preparationsfor the meeting continue.
