Ugandan socialite and businesswoman Zari Hassan has shared a heartfelt video praising her sons for their thoughtful nature, declaring that the women they eventually marry will be lucky to have them.
Filming a selfie-style clip inside her car on Thursday, 24 September, the South Africa-based entrepreneur reflected on her journey as a single mother. She pointed to small, consistent habits her boys have kept up over the years as proof of their character.
According to Zari, her sons never let her birthday or Mother’s Day pass without marking the occasion, often organizing big surprises in her honor.
Instilling Essential Values
Zari believes teaching young men to remember such milestones builds emotional intelligence, and that the habit will carry through into how they treat their future partners.
“Things that my sons are going to do for their future wives or their wives, right? They remember birthdays. They remember Mother’s Day,” she said in the clip. “If they are not going to remember those days in your life, chances are they’re not going to do this for their wives.”
An on-screen caption on the video read “my son’s wives will enjoy,” reflecting just how proud she is of the men they are becoming.
A Single Parenting Journey
Raising her boys largely by herself has come with its share of difficulties, particularly with their father absent for much of their upbringing. Her former husband, Ivan Ssemwanga, died in 2017.
Even so, Zari says she has remained deliberate about the lessons she passes on.
“I am so proud of my sons, guys. I know they’re not growing up with the father and all of that,” she said. “But you know what? I’m proud of the small things that I’m doing. Or the little that I’m instilling in them. Values.”
The entrepreneur is a mother of five. Her three eldest sons — Pinto, Raphael and Quincy — are from her marriage to Ssemwanga, while her two younger children, Tiffah and Nillan, are with Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz.
