Tanzanian singer Zuchu has made East African music history once again. Her hit song “Kwikwi” has officially surpassed 100 million views on YouTube. This achievement makes her the first female artist in East Africa to have two songs reach this milestone.
Her earlier hit, “Sukari”, was the first to cross the mark. The new milestone comes at a very special time for the singer. Zuchu recently became a mother, welcoming her first child earlier this month.
The Record-Breaking Stats
This is Zuchu’s second song to join the exclusive YouTube 100-million-views club. Her record label, WCB Wasafi, announced the milestone on Instagram. The label shared the official stats for her top two tracks:
- Kwikwi: 100 million views
- Sukari: over 125 million views
WCB Wasafi celebrated the historic achievement on social media, posting:
“Two massive records. One history-making Queen.”
With “Sukari” and “Kwikwi” both clearing the 100 million threshold, Zuchu has cemented her position at the forefront of East African music.
The Journey to 100 Million
Zuchu’s two record-breaking hits took different paths to reach their massive view counts.
Her first major milestone was “Sukari”, which was released on 30 January 2021. The song officially hit 100 million views on 25 March 2024, approximately three years after its debut.
This initial achievement made Zuchu the first female and solo artist from East Africa to reach 100 million views on a single YouTube video.
Her second major success, “Kwikwi”, was released as a single on 4 October 2022. Written by Zuchu and produced by S2Kizzy, the track is a fast-paced love song. It combines elements of Amapiano, Afro beats, and Tanzanian Bongo Flava.
The “Kwikwi” dance video quickly gained traction online. It eventually crossed the 100 million views mark in August 2026, less than four years after its initial release.
Double Celebration for the New Mother
On 2 August 2026, Zuchu and her partner, fellow Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz, welcomed their first child together. The couple announced the arrival of their baby girl on Instagram.
“Welcome to the world, our precious little angel. You are already loved more than words can ever say!”
Just three weeks after giving birth, Zuchu now has another reason to celebrate. The success of her “Kwikwi” video caps off an incredibly memorable month for the new mother.
