George Ruto Lookalike Goes Viral After Being Spotted Enjoying Chapati at Nairobi Kibanda

A middle-aged man bearing a striking resemblance to President William Ruto’s son, George Ruto, has become the latest subject of Kenya’s social-media humour after he was filmed having lunch at a hotel in Zimmerman, Nairobi.

The video, which circulated online on Thursday, August 20, 2026, showed the unsuspecting diner seated at table number eight and enjoying a plate of chapati, minji and cabbage.
The man appeared unaware that he was being recorded as he quietly ate his meal.

Lookalike Sparks Online Buzz

The resemblance to George quickly became the main talking point after the footage was shared on Instagram.
Viewers compared the man’s facial features, hairstyle and general appearance with those of the President’s son.
Some joked that George had decided to step away from his usual public life and enjoy an ordinary meal in Zimmerman.

Others simply marvelled at how closely the two appeared to resemble each other.

“The resemblance is too close,” was the general sentiment among many viewers reacting to the viral clip.

George Ruto and His Public Profile

George Kimutai Ruto, the President’s youngest son, has attracted considerable attention online in recent months despite maintaining a relatively low public profile.
His appearances have increasingly become subjects of social-media discussion.
In January 2026, George was filmed enjoying biryani with friends at a local hotel. During that occasion, he appeared relaxed as he shared a meal with his entourage and later praised the food.
His involvement in motorcycle and matatu culture has also contributed to his growing online profile.
In May, George hosted popular biker content creator Brayo at his home after social-media users had jokingly speculated that the two men were actually the same person. The meeting appeared to put that particular rumour to rest.
