Political aide and digital strategist Dennis Itumbi has donated KSh200,000 to Tabitha Wambui, the widow of the late Kagema Muraya, ahead of his burial.
The contribution was announced during a funeral fundraising meeting held on Wednesday, 6 August 2026, where family members, friends and well-wishers gathered to support the bereaved family as they prepared for Kagema’s final send-off.
Kagema, who was the younger brother of popular Kikuyu gospel musician Karangu Muraya, died after an illness. He is survived by his wife, Tabitha Wambui, and their young child.

During the event, a speaker announced that the money from Itumbi, which had initially been sent to be channelled through a committee, would instead be delivered directly into Wambui’s hands.
The speaker explained the decision was deliberate, noting that the funds were meant to help the widow “ajipange nayo” (organise herself with it), especially for the expenses that follow after a burial, including settling matters back at her late husband’s home.
Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwa also sent KSh 100,000 through Itumbi to the committee, according to announcements made at the same event.
Family continues mourning
The death of Kagema Muraya has attracted sympathy from across the country, particularly within the Kikuyu gospel music fraternity.
His brother, Karangu Muraya, has shared emotional tributes since the family’s loss became public, thanking friends and supporters who have stood with them during the mourning period.
The burial preparations have brought together religious leaders, musicians, politicians and members of the local community, many of whom have continued to send messages of comfort to the grieving family.
“We appreciate everyone who has stood with the family during this difficult time,” speakers at the fundraiser said.
