Kenya Power Lists Areas to Face Electricity Cuts on Wednesday, August 5

Source: Getty Images The utility company issued the notice on Tuesday evening, informing customers that supply would be cut to allow engineers to carry out maintenance and upgrade work on the power distribution network. Why Kenya Power Is Cutting Electricity Supply KPLC said the interruption is necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrading of power lines, connect new customers, and replace ageing equipment on the network. The company cited Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules as the legal basis under which the advance notice was issued.

“It is necessary to interrupt supply periodically in order to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of power lines to the network; to connect new customers or to replace power,” the company stated in its notice. Which Areas Will Be Affected KPLC listed specific areas that will be without power during the maintenance window on Wednesday. Customers in the affected zones were advised to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the interruption.

1. Parts of Uasin Gishu County

Area: Soko, Tuiyo Village (9am – 5pm) Tuiyo Village and adjacent customers

2. Part of Migori County

Area: Kehancha, Taranganya, Ntimaru (9am – 5pm) Kehancha Town, Ntimaru, Gwitembe, Kegonga, Getongoroma, Taranganya, Kobinto, Masangora, Komosimo, Carose, Senta, Komotobo, Matare, Maeta, Nyaroa, Komasicha, Komomwamu and adjacent customers.

3. Parts of Nyeri County

Area: Iruri Market, Karandi Market (9am – 5pm) Karandi Market, Iruri Market, Iruri Village, Iganjo Village, Mutaga Market, Safaricom Boosters, Airtel Boosters and adjacent customers.  Area: Juakali, Zaina, Miagayuini (9am – 5pm) Githima Polytechnic, Juakali TBC, Zaina Village, Zaina Dispensary, Miagayuini S/Centre, Kanyinya Market and adjacent customers.

4. Parts of Kiambu County

Area: Kagia Farm, Acre Tano (9am – 5pm) Kagia Farm, Acre Tano, China Wu YI & adjacent customers. 5. Parts of Kitui County Area: Katse (8am- 5pm) KATSE Market, Kimangao, Kimu, Maseki and adjacent customers.
