Source: Twitter Masaka regional police spokesperson Kasirye Twaha confirmed the crash occurred at approximately 11 pm, with all fatalities recorded among the taxi passengers. “In the night of August 3, at around 2300hrs, we registered a fatal road crash in Lwera Swamp, Kamunga Trading Centre, along the Kampala-Masaka Highway. Fourteen people died on the spot, all from the taxi. Four injured victims, two from each vehicle, are currently admitted at Masaka Regional Referral Hospital,” Twaha said. The taxi in question was registered under the plate UA 662AQ, while the Sino truck, bearing registration UBS 040F, was transporting sand at the time of the collision. Police officers visited the scene shortly after the crash, and investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing. Authorities are also actively searching for the truck’s driver, who fled the scene following the impact.
